I am so looking forward to meeting you both,
it's only a few days now until you fly to Vancouver.
I think we are going to have SO MUCH fun together.
There are so many great places for us to explore, and super fun things to do, like...
going to the playground
playing in the woods
building treeforts
swimming!!

I have 2 boys - they are all grown up now

Their names are Zachary and Finnian,
but we usually call them Zach & Finn
I have a Finn too!
The black and white one is age 3 & 4 in a churchyard in England.
​That's where my boys live - in the country where your Dad is from!
Here's some pictures from when we had a summer holiday here in BC when they were age 9 & 10.
​on the ferry, and going on a seaplane!!
Two of my favourite things are ferryboats and seaplanes - I bet we will do both those things when you get here.
Zach & Finn are adults now, age 32 and 31
This is us on our holiday in Tofino this year.
Can you spot my little dog Milly?
Tofino is the best place to have a holiday - I'm going to ask your Mom & Dad to take you there.
We went whale watching - it was SO cold - this is me on the boat
and this is Zack carrying Milly when she got too tired.

I love my Milly like you love your Hector

But she was really really really old,
and she passed away last month.
Here's some pictures of her and you can see what a funny happy dog she was, everybody who ever met loved her.
I'm realy really sad, I miss her all the time - but - 
​I'm super excited about meeting Hector!

This is Jackson Brown

He was our family dog when Zach and Finn were boys.
He also lived to be a really really really old dog.
Do you think Jackson and Hector look a little bit alike?
When mommy sent me a picture of Hector I instantly thought of Jackson.
And this is me when I was age 14 with our family dog - Taffy
Don't you think Taffy also looks a little bit like Hector?
lI think I already really love Hector
because he reminds me of 2 of my most favourite dogs.
But don't tell them that Milly was really the
​BEST DOG EVER

Not only do I have 2 boys - I also have 2 brothers

My brothers and I grew up on the mountainside here on the North Shore.
It's from a childhood of playing with them that I have my love of
building tree forts, and exploring in the woods, and swimming, and going to the beach.

Do you like reading books?

I absolutely LOVE to read! 
​It's one of most favourite things, and I really love reading to children
This is me reading to Zach when he was 2.
This is our library in West Van.
​This is where I had my very first library card when I was 4 years old.
This is the children's section, and we can come here as often as you want.
This is my favourite library in the whole wide world.

Do you like to play outside?

I love to be outside!
at the beach,
in the woods,
going to a playground,
walking on the seawall,
​going to the park...
This is the playground at John Lawson Park.
It's right next to the beach, and it has a water park, and loads and loads of kids love to play here.
It is a really fun playground, I can't wait to take you there
​(though, it's better in the summer than the winter).

I love to build tree forts

This is with Ricky (5) Kaydence (9) and Riley (12),
the kids I was caring for before.
We went to the woods almost everyday and played and played.
​This was the very best tree-fort we built;
it had a door on one side and a window on the other side.
We loved it, and we would make picnics and eat them sitting inside our forest-fort.
​They have moved far far away, so now I get to help take care of you!

I also like making inside tents!

Meet Bartholemew Cubbins

In our family we always give our cars a name.
My car is called Bartholemew Cubbins;
he's named after a character in one of my favourite books from when I was a child.
Bartholemew and the Oobleck was my very favourite book,
(and Yertle the Turtle was my second favourite) 
and I have taken these out of the library
to read to you when you get here.
This is Bartholemew saving the day.
​He is a Hero.
We are going to have lots of adventures in Bathtolemew Cubbins;
​he is a great car!

Do you like playing dress ups?

This is one of my most favourite games.
​When Zach and Finn were little I was always making them costumes.
This is me and Milly in my pirate costume...

Do you like swimming?

I bet Mommy & Daddy already told you that your new house has a swimming pool!
Ohh my gosh - how much FUN are we going to have in this swimming pool!?!
I love to swim, and I think we are going to have many many days of super-fun splashing together in this pool.

I cannot wait to meet you Owen & Finn
